Going Green! A Farmhouse Dining Set

Let’s talk about trends! Trends come and go; some are a little eccentric, and some are just darn crazy! But the trend of green furniture that has been a hit lately, is simply perfect! Vicki and I have never painted in green because, frankly, we have never really liked it. However, when we became retailers of Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint we decided it was our time to try this particular trend!

We have seen so many pretty green painted furniture pieces lately and have been itching to find the perfect piece to try it out on. We had two farmhouse dining tables and decided to take the smaller one to try the green on. We stripped and stained the top first though because we knew a beautiful medium tone wood would be perfect with the green.

Then it was time to pick the color. Do we go dark green or a bit lighter? Well since we wanted to lighten up this table we chose Luckett’s Green from MMSMP. It is a gorgeous light green, perfect to try our hand with this new color!

It was a quick couple coats of that lovely green, but we weren’t finished yet! We decided to “age” the green color on the apron and legs by adding Miss Mustard Seed’s Antiquing Wax. It deepened the light green perfectly!

Next up was the chairs! Can you believe these chairs didn’t come with this table as a set?! They were bought separately, but once redone in a creamy white with a sage green ticking stripe for the seat they match perfectly!

And now this set is just gorgeous together! Painting with the green was so fun, but by pairing it with classic wood and white tones we feel this table won’t be a trend, but something that would be wonderful in a home for years to come!

  1. What a beautiful job!!! I am not to be trusted with a paintbrush in hand, but you have done a marvelous job! The ticking stripe fabric on the chairs is simply wonderful! I like the simplicity of it. The less fussy in a kitchen setting, the better! You did such a fabulous job that it really IS impossible to tell the chairs and table didn’t come as a set! That shows what a good eye you have! Enjoy the week ahead!
