Hey Everyone! I decided to continue on with my late summer transition into early fall that I’ve been feeling lately. Like I mentioned in my previous post about how I had a fabulous late summer hydrangea harvest, I’m sharing another area in my home I added some amazing dried hydrangeas and fall pumpkins into my normal home decor in my sunroom.
In this post I am sharing how I redecorated my little bookshelf/hutch in my sunroom. We use this piece to hold our small TV in the sunroom and as it’s not the best TV stand ever, it definitely works. I literally don’t like the decor aspect of TVs and wish I could hide them in our home, but my husband has the opposite thought process – he would love to have a modern/manly look for our TVs where it is the biggest focal point in each room! Well…we still have to figure out a good balance for our TV’s in our home, but I decided I would still share how I decorated for this season.
If you can remember back from a couple years ago, this piece was a hutch top that I added feet to. I don’t think I necessarily bought this piece for m home, but found it for Timeless Creations’s store and during Covid repurposed and painted it in my own home. I fell in love with it and bought it from my own store so it could stay in my home. I have my doubts that it will stay here forever, but for the time being it is amazing and I love to decorate the piece with my Ironstone collection and much more.
I had quite a few Ironstone pieces already added into this hutch for my everyday decor, large pitchers that don’t fit anywhere else, some bowls and casserole dishes. All I had to do was take out a couple summery looking faux ferns and add in some pumpkins for the fall season!
The two ticking stripe fabric pumpkins were some we made, which added some softness and texture to the hutch. I added varying heights with the stacked books as well as the pumpkins with a tiny bit of color.
As you can see I kept the color palette very neutral with the added decor as I am not ready yet to add in all the bright orange, gold, yellow and red of fall just quite yet. I have some beautiful faux florals in these amazing colors that I am sure I will add soon, most likely when the weather cools down and the leaves start changing, but I wasn’t ready just yet. That’s where my hydrangeas came in to play! They are just lovely in a soft green and light pinky colors!
The neutral Ironstone and white scrap pumpkins work perfectly together. I love to layer it all, placing many Ironstone pieces on and around each other. The scrap wood pumpkins come in multiple sizes and are completely unique.
While this hutch is definitely not blue, in the photos with the bright afternoon sun in this room you can see a blue tinge come out from the “Ash” colored Fusion paint. I don’t dislike it at all, as in person it doesn’t seem this blue as it is more of a charcoal color, but you cannot help a little bit of discrepancy in rods and cones in ones eyes.
Below are some beautiful close ups of the Ironstone with hydrangeas I have added all throughout my late summer home, as well as a few neutral pumpkins for early fall.
Seriously – just check out those gorgeous hydrangeas below! If you are local to our brick and mortar, stop into the store as we have been drying our hydrangeas this year and have them available for a very small fee! They are just so gorgeous and we were able to harvest so many of them this year! We did spray them with preservative but just aren’t sure how well they will ship, so please pick them up in person.
Below are some of my favorite antique finds from this summer. Those little teal jars on the left are old antique ink wells that I have been admiring for so long! I finally found some at an antique fair this summer and snatched up every one I set my eyes on. They just remind me of days gone by where one would sit down and pen a lovely letter to an acquaintance.
Summer days have come and gone, but that doesn’t always mean we have to give them up. At this particular time, I’ve been trying to hang on to summer, while still anticipating that lovely change with fall weather. For this particular year the neutrals and hydrangeas have been the perfect transition. I’m sure I’ll add in the bold fall colors into my decor in a couple weeks, but for now THIS is perfect!
Stay tuned for much more, I am hoping to share a few home updates and more decorating inspirations very soon!
Thank you my friends – hold onto your lovely memories and family times as long as you can!
