Hello! It’s been a while since I’ve posted! The past year was another one of those struggle years for our family, and when it’s stressful the creativeness and home projects take a break as we focus on just getting through each day. I literally don’t think I did one single project for my home last year. And now this year, I’m dipping back into it with some small projects and touch up painting. But boy, do those small touch ups and getting things crisp again feel good!
This year I started with a living room decor refresh on my mantle and I think this is my favorite so far.

I have had these two mirrors on the mantle for a while now. I started with the large gold one in the very center of the mantle and then overlapped the antique one. And yes I know that the antique one is cracked….that is a whole story…..basically one of the twins was having a big fit and knocked this antique mirror off the table immediately after I brought it home. It had literally been sitting on the table for all of 2 minutes tops as I brought in the rest of the things from the car. I am pretty sure I cried! But hey, sh*t happens when you have kids. And that mirror still went up as decor!

After the mirrors I added my second favorite collection – antique seltzer bottles and jars! I have a love for the hunt of finding the most unique antique bottles or jars and just love the seltzer bottles. The teal/aqua color is my favorite!

I was talking to someone recently who actually asked me what to do with old antique bottles. She had gotten some from her parents, but wasn’t quite sure where to put them. I think I am going to have to make a whole huge post on literally EVERYWHERE that I have old bottles or jars, but for now, my mantle is a perfect example!

Of course I added some varying height with different jars and even elevating the jars with some very old books. I did use all the same color of books in this vignette so they wouldn’t detract and look too busy. Black is classic and I have quite a few of that color.

To top it off I added some faux berry stems into the tall jars. We carry these stems at our Boutique! They add some lovely texture and a subtle pink color along with the greenery. Greenery, whether its faux or real, is a must everywhere in my home. It adds a lot of interest, new color and coziness to a space. When in doubt, add some greenery!

I’d say it looks pretty darn good – don’t you?! I really enjoy the wispy-ness of the berry stems. I think it is a really great “everyday” look and shows off one of my favorite collections – my antique jars. It also brings some much needed ‘pop’ of color to this side of the room.

I have just finished up a couple other projects around the house too recently! They are quite small but have just made me so happy to have completed. Stay tuned for a couple other posts – this time back in my laundry room (which is probably the second most used room in our home besides the kitchen!)
