A couple months ago, we had a great time completely up-cycling the top part of this old 80’s hutch we had acquired. Here is the “after” of that one.
It went from a chunky large piece that was a drab brown color, to a bright and transformed cabinet! We could hardly contain our excitement when it was finished! And it didn’t stick around in our store for long either.
But this is the story of the bottom part of that very same hutch. That very same 80s chunky, hutch who we separated to make two different pieces.
We had big plans for what was now a buffet. We imagined taking the stationary panel off, at wine rack, and cup pulls. So we took the entire piece apart (including the fake backing) and then summer began…a crazy busy summer!
It sat all apart for at least a month just waiting to be finished when we got a request from a customer if we had any buffets available.Well we knew we had this one sitting all lonely and taken apart in our workroom and new it would be absolutely perfect for our customer. Luckily she knew exactly what she was looking for and our lonely little buffet was it!
We couldn’t believe how wonderful of a match it was for our customers spot in her kitchen.
So we put our 80s, drab buffet back together again and painted it a bright white, with a dark weathered layered top. We all 3 imagined this piece with cup pulls and once attached they really helped to modernize it.
We just can’t believe how wonderful both pieces from that one old hutch turned out. Even though they both were painted white, they turned out completely different! And I never would have guessed they were once two halves to an old hutch.

It looks fantastic and I love the colors! This tic tac toe game is a simple gift idea, travel game, fun for the backyard… it’s easy to make, and it’s inexpensive!

Such a lovely makeover. You would never believe it isn’t meant to be a farmhouse buffet.
