Welcome to Week 2 of the $100 Room Challenge!
Well that was a really quick week! These challenges always do though because they are so much fun! Last week we shared which room we chose for this go around as well as how we planned to make it over using only $100 and just 1 month to complete the project. If you missed our first post on the plan for Vicki’s bathroom check it out by clicking the link below:
Vicki’s Downstairs Bathroom Makeover
Here is another look at the bathroom “Before”
The second week of these challenges are not always the most exciting to share…sometimes it involves cleaning up, sometimes it’s gathering items you will need, but for us this week was all about narrowing down all of our ideas, then getting started on our projects. Luckily for us, the bathroom did not involve much clean up, or take down of existing items – there wasn’t much in there to begin with! Which was one of the problems with it. We need more storage and better decor.
Last week we also posed the question of whether we should paint an accent wall in teal! There were a couple people who answered back with a for sure ‘Yes’ and after thinking on it we grabbed a small amount of paint and went to work! We are really happy with how it turned it out! Now instead of a boring ‘ole powder room, there is a bit of pizazz! And it was one of the easiest paint jobs we have ever done! Ha!
How do you like how we painted around the light fixture? We were waiting for Vicki’s husband to get back to take it down for us! Luckily he is an electrician so taking it down and then switching it out will be a breeze!
Vicki also decided that she wanted to change out the light fixture above the mirror. While it worked fine, it was just dated and we were sick of it. Luckily this is a small bathroom and a small/budget friendly light fixture did fit in the budget! Here is the light she purchased. Isn’t it adorable!
Here is what we have spent so far:
- New Light Fixture – $42.74 (Find it HERE)
- Lumber for shelf – $10.73
- Lumber for Window Cabinet – $21.59
- Quart of Paint – $15.98
Total spent so far – $91.04 Yikes! Almost the whole budget!
This week after gathering some supplies we started making a shelf for the wall in the sink alcove, as well as the window cabinet that will be above the toilet. Both are fairly easy DIY projects and we can’t wait to share them with you for next week! They would be simple and fun projects for storage solutions to your own small bathrooms!
Don’t forget to see what everyone else did for their $100 makeovers in week 2 by clicking through the links below. There are some really fun looking makeovers! And stick with us this month for all the amazing transformations!
