Hey Friends! Welcome to another room makeover series here at Timeless Creations! We love joining in with online room makeover challenges like the One Room Challenge because there is always so much inspiration and camaraderie in finishing a room. For this fall One Room Challenge we are back at Kristen’s house for the next 6 weeks to make over her main bathroom. This has been a long time coming – two and a half years to be exact!
When we moved in 2 years ago there were a few surprises we found that went unnoticed when first touring the house. The first being that the bathtub had previously been painted. We didn’t notice this when touring the house probably because it had just been done, however when we moved in, the tub was already stained and just starting to peel off.
Then when we went to paint the bathroom, we took the mirror off the wall that was there and found a huge hole! It looked like there was supposed to be a medicine cabinet in the wall instead of just a mirror hanging. While this was a bit annoying, we were lucky that those were all the problems. They could definitely be fixed, it could have been much worse!
So at move-in we tackled the large hole in the wall problem so we could continue to paint the walls. We also changed out the light fixture, plain mirror, and towel holder right away. Over the first couple of months all of the trim in the upstairs also got painted. As for the bathtub…it had to wait since that was not in our budget at the time. Which is why we are here – two years later, ready to tackle that project!
So here is our list of items to do: Lucky for us we already had the bathroom started, we just need to finish it!
- Replace bathtub
- Tile shower surround
- Replace fixtures
- Paint the ceiling
- Frost window
- Frost windows in medicine cabinet
- Touch-up paint on walls
- Cut down shelves
- New mirror (?)
- New shower curtain and rugs
- Make a small sign for decor
We will tackle the biggest project of all by starting with the bathtub to make sure that gets finished. It is also our most pressing project. Can you believe my daughter is 2 years old and still takes baths in a plastic baby tub? It’s horrible but I just can’t put her in that icky stained tub!
We will then have a couple DIY projects, as well as decorating after we pick out new items for the bathroom.
And below are some inspiration pictures (with sources underneath) for what I will be striving for with this bathroom makeover.
I love the color in this first bathroom. While I haven’t decided about painting the vanity again, I do love the fun in this bathroom! Ours is so…blah, and dull with all the grays in it. I’m sure the white subway tile for the shower will help to brighten things, but I would still like to add a bit of color.
This bathroom is a very similar size and layout – even down to the window in the shower! I love the dark fixtures and all the decor touches.
I’m so excited to finally have a finished bathroom!! I can’t wait for it to all come together. Stay tuned with us these next few weeks for all the updates!
