Christmas Decorating in the Living Room
Hey all! I know Christmas is just around the corner, let the last minute shopping, decorating, cookie making and gift wrapping begin! Are you finished with your shopping yet? It is the first year that my daughter actually understands the concept of Santa Claus coming on Christmas Eve and leaving presents for all. Meaning I had to adjust the presents this year! I had to make sure there were actually a couple presents for under the tree for mom and dad and Kirby (our puppy) too! So….I am ALMOST finished.
We are also excited to be giving a few gifts of “experiences” this year as well. I can’t go into too much detail in case they may be reading this before they receive their present – but I loved the idea of doing something together as a family instead of getting “things”.
However we still have a bunch of presents that will be going under our tree! I’m not sure a 2.5 year old would fully understand getting a gift of “experiences”! I haven’t started my wrapping of course, but I hope to share that in our Instagram and Facebook stories at least if not on here. (If you don’t follow us on those two platforms yet, please do! We love to share what we are doing day-to-day.)
It was a nice day out today so I was finally able to take a few shots of my living room decorated for the Christmas season! I have been slowing accumulating my Christmas decor for my new home and have finally felt like it was worth sharing this year! The biggest category of decor in my home – Christmas greenery! Just adding splashes of greenery in large vases, above plaques and of course by using garland and your Christmas tree!
I found out when shopping for new christmas florals that I love flocked or frosted items. My large and tabletop trees are both flocked, the garland I purchased from our store is flocked, and so are the stems I put in my vase! While you don’t have to do everything flocked like this – it is just what I gravitated towards.
I also love to add the typical Holiday red in my decor! Red berries, a red sign, and red bulbs on my tree were all used. I also purchased those two beautifully handmade throw pillows you see on my couches this year! And YES they are from our store! I actually fell in love with these last year when we made them but didn’t actually pull the trigger to purchase. But this year I decided I just had to have them. I love the feather inserts as well as the cozy flannel plaid. I’m sure I will leave these out for most of the winter.
Having throw blankets in our living areas is an absolute MUST in the winter here in Minnesota. I always have no less than four blankets in my living room at a time! And for the holidays I break out my red throws for added color, not to mention that cozy texture.
I need to find some kind of decor piece to go above my TV in here yet. I’m thinking either a long wood sign that I couldn’t easily make, or an architectural piece. It sometimes takes a long time to find the perfect architectural piece so a sign might be in my near future. But I will always be on the lookout for a neat piece! How do you decorate around your television? I would love for you to share a picture!
In the meantime we hope you all have a very Merry Christmas season!
