This is my favorite view in my home – no matter the season, but there is something about the Christmas season that really makes things magical. I’ll be honest…during and post Covid-19 has really made my faith in the Lord and Jesus Christ flourish. Even though churches shut down and have been slow to reawaken, my faith has become stronger. I’m not sure if it was all of the stress, being scared at the beginning or just the overall turmoil in the world, but whatever it was I am thankful for my faith. And I am thankful for this Christmas season as it’s a joyous time to celebrate!
I have shared my sunroom decorated for Christmas in the past (find that post HERE) but this year my husband actually had the brilliant idea of putting the tree in the very center of the sunroom. We had recently switched the chairs in this room around which made it easier to center the tree in the back windows. Not only does it make the view from the rest of the house just gorgeous, but it looks really great from outside as well!
This is what it looks like walking in from the dining room/kitchen area. I like to say this is my fancier room, for chit chatting and early morning coffee. We moved the set of chairs around to the far side to keep the entrance nice and open. The kiddos frequently moved slid those chairs around to make more room for playing so it only made sense to open up the front area.
Adding a cozy throw blanket and some beautiful Christmas pillows is a MUST in my decor. It is such an easy thing to do, but adds a lot. The plaid pillow you see here is one we made for our Boutique. I just love the vintage looking plaid. I have a mixture of cotton and fuzzy faux fur throws and pretty much use them all! I don’t believe you can ever have TOO many throw blankets! In these cold Minnesota winters it just feels good to cozy up under a lovely throw.
This year, I added a few new ornaments to my tree courtesy of our Boutique! The silver mercury glass and the beautiful burgundy red bulbs all came from our boutique. I am seriously obsessed with those red ones and I think I’m going to have to get more next year! It is such a rich color and very unique shapes.
The display hutch below is another of my favorite pieces. It was originally a top of a large china hutch, but we took the piece apart, added feet and I painted this one in Fusion’s “Ash” which is a deep charcoal color. It looks fabulous in the sunroom. (HERE is the post about the Hutch makeover.) The snowy trees are on one side and we have a very small TV on the other top side on top of the Belgian crate. That greenery is from our Boutique as well and hangs over the edge just perfectly!
I keep some of my large antique Ironstone pitchers in this hutch as they won’t fit in the hutch in the kitchen! I might have just a few too many large pitchers…. who am I kidding – NO I don’t! I love how each one is unique. Most items stay in here year round, but I just added a couple Christmas plaques and some greenery to spruce up the interior for the holidays.
I just adore this room so much and really love decorating it for the seasons. I am open to new things and as each season comes I try decor in new spots or change it to new rooms. I did put a few items away to make room for the Christmas items and I am excited to try them in new areas once Christmas has come and gone. The table areas are quite difficult to decorate as my twins really like to grab at decor now. Its a constant battle…They really like to take the ornaments off the trees, but we just continue to try to teach them that they cannot touch mommy’s pretties!
I hope you enjoyed a peek into my sunroom for this Christmas season! It was fun to change it around just a tiny bit this year!
Watch out for the rest of the posts in this holiday series. I’ll be sharing just a tad in the kitchen area and the family living room which is a great introduction for what I hope to change in those two rooms!
