What do you think?! Think it’s time to talk about fall yet? We feel like we have been late to the game for retailers this year as we have just been soaking up the amazing summer we have had. We took this summer to spend a lot of time with family – spending time together going to the lake, biking, walking, just being together, having the kids at home…ect. of course with all the things!
Therefore, it’s a lazy late summer for us as we have been reluctant to let go. This year I have been harvesting some amazing hydrangeas from both my house and Vicki’s and I’ve been loving it! I’ll have to do a full post about the easiest way to dry your hydrangeas in the next post but, for now, I’ll be sharing how I decorated for late summer/early fall so far.
All of the hydrangeas from these first few photos came from the bushes in my own yard, which have just been amazing this summer. They produced quite a few blooms and the sun wasn’t too extremely hot or dry to turn them brown. They were really great this year. As you can see throughout this post I love to decorate for fall with old amber brown jars too. And apparently for this year I’m really feeling those hydrangeas!
These first few photos were decorated and taken in my sunroom which is one of my favorite rooms in the house. I can’t get enough of all the light in here and the lovely wooded space out the windows. It feels like you are outdoors even when you aren’t. I added a couple unique amber jars to a lovely tray on a small apothecary side cabinet I have in there. And of course! I have so many of those scrap wood pumpkins by our friend Amy at Rustic Occassions! I think I have about 7 (so far!) of these pumpkins and just can’t get enough of them! We carry some in our store but you can also get them from Amy’s Etsy store (if your lucky as they sell out quickly!) I think I may need just 1 or 2 more…
The photo below was from my entryway last year. I have a dresser in an alcove in my entryway that just gets some legit decor on the top of it as our family door is in the laundry room. I don’t have to worry about this space by the door having the be the “catch-all” as that is in a different room. And I love that I have certain spaces in my home that I can dedicate to being super cute decor spaces. I was happy to display my amber jars here along with that handmade green ticking stripe pumpkin and “Octobers” plaque.
Below is a little peek of my mantle for this year. I carried through the hydrangeas and the amber bottles from the sunroom to the living room. It didn’t take much to switch my mantle out this year as the mirror was already there and I had some teal jars in place of the amber jars. I just added the pumpkins and changed out the jars and it made for a very easy seasonal switch.
Besides my decor, I was able to find a few fun decor inspirations from around the web. Enjoy the photos below that have some absolutely beautiful vignettes using old amber bottles and jars. When looking at each photo throughout our post you can see that each person used multiple jars of varying heights. That helps to have interest in the vignette.

Each photo also used some kind of different texture in and around it as well. Whether it was florals, pumpkins, cotton bolls, candles or more, the cozy fall feeling comes out in full force around these vignettes.
Above you see how neutral everything in the entire photo is except for those gorgeous amber bottles. Just really epitomizes the color and fall vibe of the old antiques.
Below is probably one of the coziest photos I came across when looking around for amber bottle inspiration. The bottles, the old books, the crate and then that cozy looking couch filled with a lovely throw blanket and different colored and textured pillows just makes me want to sit down and read a book with a candle burning on a chilly fall day. How amazing is that?!
We hope we were able to inspire you for the upcoming fall season! As a recap, this year since I’m not willing to let go of my lovely summer, I’ve begun my seasonal decorating with some lovely dried hydrangeas and amber bottles. The cozy blankets are coming out and of course I have started burning some lovely fall scented candles we pour ourselves. (Find those HERE)
We hope you can join us at our Fall Open House on September 5th, 6th, 7th but if you can’t – don’t forget you can shop on our website or if you ever see anything on any of our socials, just message us!
Have a lovely fall.
