Hello All! The mornings here in Minnesota are starting to get cooler and while we love the warmth of summer the change of the seasons are some of our favorite. It just feels refreshing when each new season comes! We love to see the leaves turn over to all the gorgeous reds, yellows, and oranges on the beautiful bluffs in our area. It’s a time of pumpkins, leaves, and warm coffee out on the porch! Over the last few years I have noticed how much fun it is to change over my decor to bold fall colors. That’s how I decided to decorate my porch last year, with some fun colors along with the funky heirloom pumpkins instead of traditional orange.

I started with a fun fall wreath with a mixture of green, fall leaves, neutral pumpkins and some gorgeous burgundy hydrangeas. This one we made for our Boutique and love how it looks on my painted front door. (Paint color is Fusion “Inglenook” See how I painted it HERE)

I then added some lovely large fall mums around the front door in varying heights. These were called “bronze” but they looked quite yellow for the majority of the time. Use a crate, stool, bucket or small table – basically anything you have to create the height with your florals. I then added a bunch of fun pumpkins in and around the mums.

This bench (below) is one of my favorite flea market finds to date. It’s large and has a deep seat for comfort. It came with the neatest authentic chippy paint too! I haven’t touched the finish on it as it is perfect just the way it is. I added the fall pillows and blanket for coziness and comfort. While we don’t keep a blanket and pillows on the porch all the time we DO keep them very close to the front door for early morning coffee sipping.

I typically have throw blankets all over the house at all times of the year but there’s just something about fall weather that makes you want to just curl up under one and sip something warm. The pillows and throw came from our Boutique and we have some really fun new styles coming up for this year. And again, you can see that I added pumpkins all over! Different sizes and colors were put into my metal plant stand by the door. I just adore those unique green pumpkins!

Simple changes to the porch for fall are so easy to make, yet they make such a huge impact. A few mums, pumpkins and cozy items help so much to change the look. Remember to add height and different textures to your decorating. Wood items, galvanized buckets or washbasins, crates, maybe even corn stalks or hay would be awesome. And LANTERNS! I don’t personally have any lanterns but they are so much fun to decorate with for fall and even easily transitions to Christmas when it’s time.

And always remember to have fun with your decorating. I love to play around with different decor and putting my items in different spots each year. I like to change things from year to year – get rid of the items I don’t love anymore and find new things for my home. Enjoy the process and the lovely changing of the seasons!
