Hello! And welcome to another room makeover! This is going to be a semi-quick one as we don’t have a ton of projects to do in here and I am itching to get it done quickly. But we still wanted to share the process with you all as it’s always fun to see a before and after room transformation!
This time we are making over a bedroom at Kristen’s house to turn it into a nursery for her Twin baby boys. Yup – you read that right – Twins! If you hadn’t heard yet, it came as quite a surprise to my husband and I as we found out at our first ultrasound at 20 weeks along. Yes, halfway through the entire pregnancy is when we found out. Needless to say it was quite a shock, and I have been in full-out “nesting mode” lately trying to get everything ready. I read that it was a good idea to make sure you were completely prepared for your babies to come home by 30 weeks when you are expecting twins – just in case they come early OR you and your large belly can hardly get around towards the end!
View from the doorway – The wall you see immediately on the right side of the photo is the closet.
So that’s where we are, quickly trying to get things purchased, washed, put together, and completely “nested” into the new nursery! Here is a peek of what the room looked like before we began on it. This last summer, it had an extra desk and extra dresser in it, as I thought it may be a craft room for a while. Well I never used it for that, so we moved all the extra items to the basement to get ready for the little ones. At this point in time, you can see the crib mattress and my daughter’s old dresser in there. My husband and I were trying to use the crib mattress to help me visualize how two cribs were going to fit in here!
It’s not a very large room at all, but it’s immediate location next to the master bedroom is why we decided to keep it as a nursery instead of switching all the rooms around. While scrunching two cribs in here won’t be perfect, it will definitely work. Trying to figure out where all the furniture was going to go was probably the hardest part! I really wanted to put a glider in here originally back when we thought we were only having one baby and since we already purchased the glider, we had to really measure out how this room was going to work with all the items I wanted in it!
This is the wall we plan to put the two cribs on.
After we figured out the furniture situation, I could finally settle down and get to purchasing the rest of what I needed.
Here is the plan for the babies room:
- Paint the walls
- Purchase a second crib
- Paint the Dresser
- Add glider
- Find/Purchase Side Table
- Purchase Lamp for Table
- Make Wall Shelves
- Decorate
- Organize closet
- Curtains (? – I have a terrible time finding curtains I actually like, so we will see how this one goes)
Here is my inspiration photo. We have some of these items already, and some we are waiting on to put it together completely. We have also been shopping for side tables to go next to the glider. I’m having a tough time finding something, and it is now getting a tad late for me to re-do anything too. Mainly because it is getting harder and harder for me to be fixing and painting! We will see what we find. I also purchased brackets for the shelves I plan to make, and we have started on those! We can’t wait to share how it all comes out in the end.
Stay tuned for next week’s makeover which will be the dresser. We share the proper way to paint over a chalky type of paint!

Congratulations. I’m a twin and having these little ones will be quite the adventure. I’m certain your daughter will be a great big sister. Thanks for sharing the journeys of both decorating the nursery and these glorious additions to your family. God bless you all.

Well I thank you so much for your kind comments. It was such a shock at first, but now we realize we are just extra blessed. My daughter loves telling everyone she will be having TWO babies coming soon!
