Wow, I can’t believe it is July already! June just flew by, but I guess with a newborn baby that is understandable. We are slowly getting used to our schedule as new parents and just love spending time with our little girl.
The other day a couple friends came to visit and see baby Emme and they brought me this beautiful bouquet of peonies. This is one of my all time favorite flowers (as my friend Theresa knows) She had just done flowers for a wedding just like we did for my wedding (See how we DIY’ed my flowers for my wedding HERE) and was thoughtful enough to make up a bouquet for me!

The morning after I received the gorgeous bouquet, I was grabbing my morning coffee and got inspired. Obviously as a new parent I was taking some time off to be with our baby, but that morning I just had to do a photo shoot so I could share!
So I set up a pretty little tablescape on my newly refurbished farmhouse table so I could share it with you all. And what a pretty little area I was able to create. With the pretty peonies as the focal point in the center, I was able to capture a fun summer tablescape.
It is easier than you think to set a beautiful table. There are just a few staples to add some fun to your table.
1.) Table Linens: Whether you are a tablecloth person or you love runners, or beautiful fabric napkins, you can add just one or all to start your table off. Placemats can also be beautiful. For this summer table, I added woven chargers to my table. If you like color, this is a great place to start!
2.) A Wonderful Centerpiece: Flowers, like my bouquet, are always a great and traditional centerpiece. They are easy, and just darn beautiful! If you don’t have fresh flowers there are great faux flowers nowadays. Another good centerpiece is to do a tiered tray with pretty little decor pieces on top.
3.) Add some great dishes! While paper plates are convenient, if your setting a pretty table, this is the time to use those pretty dinnerware items you don’t usually use. The plates I decided on were a set I got for my wedding – handed down from my grandma. Not only are they pretty, but they have sentimental value as well 🙂
For my napkins there, I didn’t have any napkin rings, but found some pretty string I had used for wrapping presents. All I did was tie a bow around my napkin and Voila! I have a napkin ring!
I also added two of my very favorite decor pieces I utilize all around my home. Ironstone pitchers and boxwood topiaries. I absolutely love using greenery in my home, whether they are real plants or faux – it doesn’t matter. Those tiny ones are some of my favorite! (find them HERE)
It was so much fun to take a little time and create something beautiful for myself. I hadn’t planned it at all, but just started grabbing items I thought would be pretty with my flowers. And I did it all while the baby slept right next to me!
I think it turned out wonderful for being so impromptu! It also helps to have a dining table I now love to dress up! Haha!
Have fun with your own summer tablescape. Below is where you can find some of the items I have!
