Our baby girl’s nursery is coming along well!
I can’t believe it’s almost time for our little girl to be here! The last couple months of this pregnancy have gone by so quickly. Good news though! Her room is almost complete! We shared the plan for her nursery last week. For this week, we are going to be sharing a fun, super easy, DIY project my husband and I finished for her room.
Since her room is so tiny, we knew a lot of furniture in the space wasn’t going to work. But while talking with my sister-in-law, she suggested that we absolutely needed some kind of night stand or side table to put next to the rocker. Any place to set a bottle, pacifier, or anything else she may need.
My new teal cabinet wasn’t the only thing I found at the Junk Bonanza this spring. I snatched up this sweet little metal stool too! I was drawn by the legs and how petite it was and knew it would make the perfect side table!
Here is what you will need for this DIY project.
- Metal Stool/Stand
- Wooden Table Top
- Pre-Stain
- Stain
- Sealant
- Countersunk Wood Washers
- Wood Screws
Pretty straight forward and small supply list.
First thing we did was get our table top ready to add to the metal stool. We bought the table top already finished and added pre-stain to the entire piece to ensure perfect (not spotty) stain coverage. It only takes about 5 minutes for that to soak in before you wipe it back, then you can add your stain without waiting. We did two coats of one of my favorite colored stains I have throughout my house. And lastly, add 3-4 coats of your sealant. This is what we used.
Finishing the table top is about the most time-consuming part of this project – and that’s only because you have to wait for it to dry! Otherwise you just take your washers and screws and position the table top centered on the stool. We put the wooden top on the floor and flipped the stool upside down on top of it to attach.
Since my stool had holes in it already I needed the washers to attach, but you could figure out a different way to attach it with just the screws too if you have a different stool.
Now we have this tiny DIY side table that is perfect for our daughter’s little room! I’m so happy with the result, and know it will come in handy when spending time in the rocking chair.
If you like this little sneak peek of her room don’t forget to stop back next week to see the total reveal of our girl’s nursery! It is the sweetest little space we have in our new house.
