A beautiful and bold Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint color.
As you may now know, in January we announced that we have become official retailers of Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint! (Yay!) We just received our first shipment of the products and couldn’t be happier! We were having so much fun looking over everything, and deciding what colors we wanted to play with.
But one of the first colors we were dying to try was this beautiful blue-green teal named “Kitchen Scale”. So we looked through our large stash of furniture to find the perfect piece!
This little washstand wasn’t in terrible shape, but needed just a couple fixes here and there. These have been selling well as white, but we really wanted to go bold and different with this one! We just adore these little washstands. They are seriously perfect for any spot in the house. Kristen has one for her coffee bar in the dining/kitchen area and second in the entryway. But they would make perfect nightstands or side tables too.
So we mixed up a batch of the “Kitchen Scale” and got right to it! It was a quick two coats to cover it completely. One thing I love about Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint is how quickly it dries! By the time I had put a first coat on the entire washstand I was able to go back to the starting point and begin on the second coat! No need to wait an hour or two in between for the paint to dry.
We let the color do it’s thing and allowed the blending of the blue green color. If you want a more uniform look you just have to make sure you mix up enough of the paint and try to stir it every 5 minutes or so. Sometimes the heavily pigmented colors separate a bit as they sit. We just went right with what the paint wanted to do. Allowed it to chip a little bit in some places, and distressed the piece in others.
It was then finished with one of my favorite Miss Mustard Seed’s products – the furniture wax. Oh I just love this wax! It is a dream to work with. We like to put it on with a cloth so we can buff it right in at the same time we are applying!
New decorative knobs in silver were then added and we are just adoring the color with the wood accents we styled it with! How pretty!!
And now this little piece is a wonderful ‘new’ farmhouse washstand with a bold color perfect for that statement item in your home! It is for sale and we do ship our furniture so if your interested just let us know! You can email us at timelesscreationsmn@gmail.com.
