How to chose a new color scheme for fall.
We are in the thick of fall here in Minnesota – actually we just had our first snowfall not too long ago too! The weather here really is crazy. We are at it again with creating new tablescapes! We absolutely love to come up with new ways to spruce up your table decor and just adore all the pretties we see online. For this year we again didn’t go with your normal yellow, orange or red for fall. Instead we with a hint of maroon and copper!
Our table decor from last year contained a pop of bright, unexpected color just like we did this year! See that tablescape by clicking the link HERE: https://timelesscreationsmn.com/surprise-pop-color-fall-tablescape/
But for this year, we didn’t want to do the same color, but instead we wanted to choose something that would again be different. While out shopping, Kristen came across a chunky knit maroon throw and those pretty maroon flocked sprays you see on the table. These became the basis for my color scheme for fall.
While I loved the maroon, I didn’t want to go overboard with it since I still LOVE my neutrals. Throughout my home, I added maroon just here and there. Like in the living room with the throw, in the wreath you see in this picture, on the table, and in a couple vases. It adds the warmth I wanted for my space for fall, without going overboard.
With maroon as my base idea, I new it needed to be balanced out – which is where that faux seeded Eucalyptus comes into play! It added a different texture, a warm green, and more Ooommph to the table. (We sell this particular eucalyptus in our store, but you can find a similar one HERE).
Then came the copper! Even though we hardly ever make moscow mules – I absolutely love the copper mugs for decor! (Find your own mugs HERE) While they mostly get used for decor in the fall, we have actually used them…once…possibly twice. Who knows – but they are cute! So they got added to my tablescape, along with that copper mixing bowl which is sitting upside down in the middle.
Then to pull it all together came all of my neutrals. The woven placemats bring out all the rest of the wood tones I have as decor in my kitchen, and all the medium and small white pumpkins add balance to all the color. My favorite item to decorate with is Ironstone, so needless to say a couple small ironstone pitchers got placed on the table as well!
The white plates are one of our favorites, and if you have followed us for a while you are sure to recognize them. We use them a lot! They have the prettiest subtle scalloping on the edges and are the perfect shade of white. I wish we had more of them so we could use them more often. Usually we have more people than 4 at fun dinners.
And what a fun tablescape we created! We love to mix and match different colors, as well as rustic and elegant pieces together. Really there are no rules you have to follow. Just start putting things together! That’s how we do it. We find some kind of color, or theme and just start playing around to see what goes well together.
