Mint End Table

Oh do we have the sweetest little end table you ever will see! We decided to try a new color again today for our furniture makeover and paint an ornate piece in MINT! We have recently tried out a new paint line which I am sure most of you have heard of-Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint. I love the easy chippyness her paint can bring to a piece, and also that it is all natural paint.

(Sorry about the terrible IPhone “before” picture. Half the time when trying new things, I always get so excited and forget to take pictures before diving right in!)

I thought this mint color we ordered would be perfect to try on this little ornate end table. A bonus to milk paint, if you want a bit of that chippyness to come through on the piece, the less sanding in the prep work the better!

So to begin I just very lightly sanded (using this) and wiped down the piece as my prep. (I love it when the prep work is minimal!)

To mix the milk paint can be intimidating at first, but it’s so very easy and nothing to be afraid of. It is a 1:1 ratio of paint powder to water, stir, sit, stir again. Once that was done, it was a quick two coats on this little beauty to finish.

Once the paint dried I took a fine grit sanding block and sanded over the entire piece. In some spots it chipped off perfectly and in others I just sanded it down like normal distressing! We also got to try a new topcoat with this as well. We used Miss Mustard Seed’s Beeswax, which gave it a very nice sheen, and really enhanced the color. It is also all natural which I love!

Adding a new decorative knob completed the piece perfectly.

And now this previously dated and dingy piece is a beautiful mint end table! I love to style pretty end tables in my bedroom. I knew the neutral bedspread and curtains would be perfect accents to this table. I styled it with a simple white pitcher and some dried hydrangeas. The white gave it enough contrast but adding those hydrangeas accented the color perfectly.
