2018 is going to be a great year for us!
This January we announced two incredible pieces of news from Timeless Creations. First – we will be opening our Brick & Mortar store in our hometown of Houston, Minnesota this May. Second – we have launched an Etsy Shop for those who live further away, but still love what we do!
Now we have a third exciting announcement to make! We have officially become Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint Certified Retailers! We are so excited to begin this new chapter into our business. We have explored the idea of becoming paint stockist’s from the very beginning of starting TC. We have tried many brands and have definitely found our favorites – Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint being one of them.
When we took a class last October that was being taught by Miss Mustard Seed herself, Marian Parsons, we gained an even greater appreciation for these products. It was so much fun to meet Marian and talk with her personally about becoming retailers. We came from that class not only with a pretty project but with a sense of optimism and excitement about our future – we knew we had to become a part of that milk paint family!
So we went through the application process and received word right after Christmas that we were being welcomed in! And just last week our very first shipment of Milk Paint products was delivered to us! If you follow along with us on Instagram you would have seen us excitedly opening our boxes like it was Christmas morning all over again!
We didn’t want to just inform you all that we will be carrying milk paint, but we wanted to share some of the reason’s why we love these products which led to us becoming retailers.
1.) They are all natural products. 5 simple ingredients make up milk paint and there are natural wax and oil finishes. “I first tried this paint last year after I found out I was pregnant with my first child. Being a furniture artisan, you can come into contact with different products that are not healthy for you. With Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint I didn’t have to worry!” -Kristen
In fact you can frequently see us painting a piece with Kristen’s daughter in the walker right next to her.
2.) The colors are absolutely gorgeous! From the beautiful light white, mint green, and grays to the vibrant and many blues, green, red, black..there is a color for everyone. And they truly match our style perfectly. We tend to paint in classic neutrals which is what we gravitate towards. But we also adore blues – and boy does this paint line have some extraordinary shades of blue! But don’t get us wrong, we are excited to branch out and try colors we haven’t before – that beautiful tricycle red, and boxwood green.
3.) You can use milk paint like a stain. Ummm, how cool is that! Just add more water to your powder and, bingo! you have a stain for your raw wood projects! I don’t know why we never thought of that when we first found this paint line but we learned it last fall and thought it was so cool!
4.) The wax goes on like butter. Seriously, the furniture wax is probably the best wax on the market. It has the consistency of thick lotion and when put on with a rag you can buff it right into the paint on the piece – making it super soft. We adore this wax!
5.) This is the best paint for that time-worn chippy look. Without the bonding agent milk paint can create some beautiful flaky/chippy looks like you see below. That is absolutely perfect for a vintage, rustic, or farmhouse-y look. While you can distress with other paints, nothing else gives you that “chippy” feel like this paint does. If that isn’t your style, then add that bonding agent and the paint adheres wonderfully!
Here are a couple pieces we have finished with Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint. And definitely watch for more in the future, because this is just the beginning of our Milk Paint Journey!
